Back in the Saddle

After 22 hours in transit, we are back in Canada for a rather more rigorous fall than we were experiencing in France. All of October, the daytime temperature hovered between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. Heaven!

Here in Alberta, we were greeted by a snowless landscape.  This is already a little special for Halloween as we normally have a dusting by this time of year.  As I write this, it is a balmy 9 degrees Celsius and very sunny.  Leaves litter the ground and there are still apples hanging on one of the trees in our backyard.  If they aren't frozen, maybe I could make a pie or two?

I have unpacked and put everything away.  I have some laundry to do and the kitchen needs some buffing and shining but the house is neat.

O.k. so this is the part when I find out what retirement is REALLY like,  because in the south of France, it just felt like a long holiday.  What is going to fill my time these next two months?  No doubt there'll be some knitting, maybe a little sewing, reading and reading circles, lunches and dinners with friends, catching up on new movies and getting ready for Christmas.

On the well-being side of things, exercise and a few dietary changes are in order and I look forward to registering in a course on meditation to help me stay calm and perhaps sleep a little better.

Another project that must be begun and ended before the new year is to get ready to teach the two courses I will be giving at the university from January to April... What?  Work you say? Something has to feed the brocante bug that I'll be catching next summer...

Until then, I am going to be quite content to be at home and putter and figure out what to do with the rest of my life.

À bientôt!

Stella

Oh the gift of choice.
To breath in that lovely thought of "what do I want to do, or be, or feel, or love, or give, or create..."
I cannot wait to hear about the journey.

Happy Birthday to Me
